Ann Arbor, Michigan, February 6, 2013 – Truven Health Analytics™, formerly the Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters, today announced the launch of HIE Advantage℠ Analytics, a new data analytics suite designed to help public health officials access and analyze operational and clinical statistics housed within state-wide health information exchanges (HIE). The new analytics suite is currently being used in the new West Virginia Health Information Network (WVHIN) to help administrators evaluate HIE utilization. Truven Health Analytics and WVHIN successfully launched a statewide HIE in May 2012.

HIE Advantage Analytics uses near real-time clinical data from healthcare providers, healthcare claims from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other sources of information that are stored within state-wide HIE repositories. Dashboard-style reports, specialized analytic reports, and ad hoc queries are available within the suite for analyzing and displaying the data.

By implementing HIE Advantage Analytics, participating health systems will be able to monitor and advance the health status of the community while improving clinical outcomes. Targeted reports allow users to analyze prevalence, process of care, and patient outcome metrics for specific diseases such as diabetes, coronary artery disease, and congestive heart failure. Rates of screening and preventive care for the population as a whole can be used to identify communities at higher risk for poor health status and inform efforts to improve care in those areas.
