Micromedex®360 Care Insights Suite Now Includes Enhanced Reporting for Quality, Operational, and Financial Performance; Contributing to Better Results in Patient Intervention and Infection Prevention
Ann Arbor, Michigan, February 7, 2013 – Truven Health Analytics™, formerly the Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters, today introduced enhanced flexibility and robust, new functionality in reporting for its Pharmacy Intervention and Infection Prevention products, part of the Micromedex® 360 Care Insights Suite that share a common technology platform. These enhancements allow clinicians to demonstrate improved care quality and better patient outcomes, as well as provide operational efficiencies and cost savings across a hospital or health system.
“This reflects our 360 platform strategy to efficiently integrate evidence and patient data across a healthcare enterprise, regardless of the existing HIS environment,” said Courtney Morris, senior vice president, solution management at Truven Health. “We are committed to delivering clinicians the specialized tools that they need to increase quality, efficiency and effectiveness of care,” he added.
Available now, Pharmacy Intervention and Infection Prevention include specific reporting capabilities to provide greater visibility into clinical quality and financial tracking. Examples include comprehensive reports for IV to PO cost savings to demonstrate contribution to cost control, and new antimicrobial stewardship management and outcome reports that provide insight to treating clinicians to reduce patient risk and improve outcomes across departments.
Pharmacy Intervention and Infection Prevention are real-time clinical surveillance solutions that electronically identify patients at-risk for adverse events and other threats to patient safety. Using clinical profiles, encompassing both clinical criteria and patient-specific data elements, built with Micromedex trusted evidence-based rules; clinical decision support case definitions from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS); and National Health Safety Net (NHSN)-defined HAI case criteria, Pharmacy Intervention and Infection Prevention cover many of the most medically significant and costly situations hospitals face today. When at-risk patients and early intervention candidates are identified, Pharmacy Intervention and Infection Prevention serve as a single-source of relevant clinical information, providing a comprehensive view of the patient, enabling timely and informed treatment decisions.
