On September 1st, Truven Health hosted its 3rd Puerto Rico Summit in San Juan. The discussion among our speakers was a lively one this year, and included representatives from:

  • Puerto Rico Department of Health
  • The Joint Commission Resources
  • Puerto Rico Hospital Association
  • Hospital Español Auxilio Mutuo

During this one-day conference, we discussed in detail the ongoing Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) shift from volume to value payments, including recent proposed changes that will update Medicare payment policies under the Inpatient Prospective Payment System and the Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System. We heard from industry specialists about recent trends in hospital quality improvement, and how the latest CMS proposal affects the alignment of Core Measures requirements with electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) reporting, with particular focus on:

  • How to navigate, in Puerto Rico, the challenges presented by the shift to eMeasures reporting
  • The requirements, measures and expectations of both CMS and Joint Commission
  • And how to improve clinical quality performance in line with the shift from volume to value

Guests had the chance to network, and during educational breakouts, to put their questions directly to our subject matter experts - including the event sponsors, Rubali Professionals Inc. and SabiaMed Corporation.

This site includes the presentations of these renowned experts in the fields of Regulatory Reporting, Care Delivery, Clinical Benchmarking and Real-Time Clinical Surveillance, focusing on strategies that help hospitals in the Caribbean and Central America to navigate emerging healthcare challenges, and in particular the reporting requirements of CMS and the Joint Commission. You will also find further reading, photos from the event, the speakers’ biographies, and the chance to put your feedback and questions directly to the speakers.
