Lourdes Cruz Rivera

Lourdes is a registered nurse and a clinical leader in the healthcare delivery system with a focus on improving quality of care. As the Medicare State Agency In Service Training Coordinator in the Health Department State Agency, Lourdes coordinates a variety of internal and external training programs to address competency gaps. Lourdes is also a professor at the Caribbean University Nursing College, where she prepares nursing students adequately for the challenges presented within all aspects of the nursing field and is currently a PEG Professional Educator Group Instructor.


In addition, Lourdes has worked as Quality Assurance Office at the Bayamón Regional Hospital in Puerto Rico, coordinating hospital wide Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Programs, and directing activities with emphasis on compliance with Joint Commission Accreditation and Federal regulations.


She has extensive nursing care experience in the ER and ICU and advanced competencies in nursing leadership, care environment management, integration and coordination of care, risk assessment, implementation of evidence-based practice, and evaluation of clinical outcomes. Presently, Lourdes facilitates and provides consultation in the Puerto Rico state and federal clinical and healthcare field. She has designed, developed, and implemented a variety of conferences and workshops in the healthcare arena, and has conducted clinical research, presenting scholarly work at various nursing conferences.


After her Bachelor in Nursing, Lourdes went on to complete a Masters in Nursing, and is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators, the Puerto Rico Caribbean University Nursing Faculty and the Puerto Rico Quality Assessment Society.
