Truven Health Micromedex® Solutions and Health Nuts Media Partner to Increase Pediatric Patient Understanding and Engagement

Addition of Health Nuts Award-Winning Video Library to the Micromedex® Patient Connect Suite Provide

Ann Arbor, MI, Aug. 01, 2013 — Truven Health Analytics today announced a new partnership with Health Nuts Media to deliver animated videos designed to help children better understand the healthcare challenges they or their families may be facing. By integrating these videos into the Micromedex® Patient Connect Suite, the company now offers a full and comprehensive pediatric educational and instructive set of resources to hospital patients and clinicians nationwide.

Health Nuts Media is an Emmy Award-winning producer of animation-based, pediatric patient health education. The pediatric videos — which are short and direct animated movies that explain difficult concepts using terms, graphics, and characters to which children can relate— are used by healthcare providers and patients alike as a way to foster health literacy and ease a child’s concerns about specific healthcare conditions.

The video content is an excellent complement to Micromedex CareNotes® patient education documents (a core component of the Patient Connect Suite). While the Micromedex CareNotes help parents understand and explain their child’s condition and care, the Health Nuts Media animated videos support that explanation and encourage engagement directly with the child as well as the parent. Combining the simplified, explanatory content of the pediatric education videos with the evidence-based, instructive content of CareNotes provides a more complete, interactive, and effective patient education experience.
