Micromedex NeoFax and Pediatric Clinical Decision Support Now EHR Integration-ready

Ann Arbor, MI, Sep. 03, 2013 — Enhanced HL7 integration functionality streamlines the clinician workflow, optimizes patient care, and decreases potential for human errors and adverse drug events

Truven Health Analytics™ today announced that its Micromedex® Expanded NeoFax® Drug Information and Expanded Pediatric Drug Information evidence-based resources now feature integration-ready functionality, allowing a seamless connection of patient data with a healthcare facility’s Electronic Medical Record (EHR) or Hospital Information System (HIS).

This new HL7 integration-ready functionality allows clinicians caring for critically-ill neonates, infants and children — either at the bedside or from the pharmacy — to access evidence-based clinical decision support (CDS), calculate and create drug and parenteral nutrition orders, and interface with the facility’s computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system, all without leaving their workflow or the patient’s bedside.

“The ability to access the patient-specific, neonatal and pediatric medication and nutritional dosing tools provided in Micromedex NeoFax and Pediatrics, without exiting the EHR, is a primary need for our customers, ” said Tina Moen, PharmD, chief clinical officer, Truven Health Analytics. “The new HL7 integration-ready features enable clinicians to remain in one system in their workflow, which can decrease the potential for error as well as make the order research and creation process less cumbersome and time consuming. These things are essential when taking care of this very vulnerable patient population.”

Micromedex NeoFax and Pediatric Drug and Nutrition Information provide clinicians the industry standard for evidence-based CDS to help:

  • Improve patient safety
  • Decrease errors and adverse drug events
  • Optimize and streamline patient care
  • Improve communication effectiveness among caregivers
  • Reduce complications and mortality

No other neonatal or pediatric drug information and decision support product offers the level of integration functionality between patient data in the EHR/HIS and population-specific resources and tools available in Expanded NeoFax and Expanded Pediatric Drug Information.

For more information or to add this functionality to your new or existing Micromedex subscription, call 1.800.525.9083, option 4 and ask for the NeoFax and Pediatric HL7 EHR-ready offering.
