Sturdy Memorial Hospital Implements Truven Health Micromedex 360 Care Insights Hosted Solution for Real-Time Clinical Surveillance on Eve of HIMSS Conference

Hosted Server Model Reduces Hospital IT Footprint Resources Lowers Costs – Two Key Concerns Discussed at the Annual Health IT Conference

Ann Arbor, MI, Feb. 24, 2014 — Truven Health Analytics™ announced today that Sturdy Memorial Hospital is now live using a hosted server environment option of Micromedex® 360 Care Insights, a real-time clinical surveillance solution. The hosted option allows a secure clinical data acquisition appliance to be installed locally at the hospital. The appliance transmits patient-specific clinical data from disparate hospital systems in real time to secure servers at Truven Health, saving the hospital valuable information technology (IT) resources which results in reduced costs.

Sturdy Memorial Hospital is a 128-bed acute care hospital located in Attleboro, MA. Representatives from Sturdy Memorial indicated that their decision to choose a hosted option for 360 Care Insights was two-fold: they would no longer be concerned with hardware or servers, nor would they need a dedicated IT resource. Truven Health will be responsible for the technical work that is needed for the functionality and maintenance of the server.

Sturdy Memorial utilizes Micromedex 360 Care Insights in conjunction with their EHR to proactively monitor and conduct real-time clinical surveillance to quickly identify at-risk patients and intervention candidates, ensuring that they meet Core Measure and Meaningful Use guidelines.

"360 Care Insights helps us identify at-risk patients so that we can act before they have a negative outcome, " said Alice Chamberlain, Nurse Educator Informaticist/360 Care Insights Project Manager at Sturdy Memorial. "This is a great tool to support the nursing staff in making clinical decisions."

The addition of a hosted server model now allows customers to choose between a traditional, installed server on their own premises, or a hosted solution on Truven Health hardware within a secure, state-of-the-art data warehousing environment. The enterprise-wide 360 Care Insights Suite aggregates multiple sources of patient-specific data into a single view to aid clinicians within their clinical workflow; and it allows all departments to utilize a single, consistent technology for data deposit, reference, and patient-specific clinical decision support (CDS) at the point of care, contributing to improved patient safety and outcomes.
