Truven Health Analytics™ Reports Integration of Micromedex® Patient Education and Clinical Decision Support into EMR Systems is on the Rise in Support of Meaningful Use Attestation

Thus far in 2014, more than 300 Hospitals and dozens of Physician Practices Have Selected Micromedex® Patient Education, Drug, Lab and Disease content for seamless integration within many different HIS systems


Ann Arbor, MI, Jul. 01, 2014 — Truven Health Analytics™ today announced a growing trend in the adoption of Micromedex evidence-based patienteducation, patient discharge instructions, patient engagement and Clinical Decision Support (CDS) resources, into its customers’ Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. This type of integration makes resources accessible to clinicians at the point of care, and supports Meaningful Use (MU) certification of EMR systems and hospital attestation for Stage I and Stage II incentive payments. Thus far in 2014, over 110 hospitals have purchased integrated solutions directly from Truven Health, including Micromedex CareNotes®, and CDS modules from the Micromedex Clinical Knowledge Suite such as Medication Instructions, Drug Information, Disease and Condition Information and Lab Recommendations. In addition, more than 200 hospitals and dozens of physician practices have chosen Micromedex content for integration from Truven Health’s partnership network.

Acute care hospitals and physician practices leverage evidence-based Micromedex solutions to support Meaningful Use attestation for access to Patient Education and CDS resources. CareNotes patient discharge instructions, in addition to other CDS content and educational and instructive documents, can be integrated directly into the EMR-workflow using many delivery formats and integration standards; including the most current version of Health Level Seven (HL7) context aware knowledge retrieval format leveraging the Infobutton® v3 standard.
