Truven Health Analytics Awarded Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ RMADA Contract

Truven Health Will Aid CMS with Research, Measurement, Assessment, Design and Analysis of Innovative Care Delivery Models to Improve Quality and Reduce Costs Across Health Programs

Ann Arbor, MI, Aug. 01, 2014 — Truven Health Analytics announced today that it has been awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on its five-year, $7 billion Research, Measurement, Assessment, Design and Analysis (RMADA) procurement program.

“The demands of new reforms created under ACA have redefined the way CMS approaches and conducts research activities and demonstrations affecting Medicare, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and uninsured populations, ” the RMADA request for proposals said. “The role of state and private sector payers is also redefined as many of the new models include multiple payers working in collaboration with CMS to reform the care delivery system. The RMADA will provide CMS with a robust tool to meet those challenges.”

“We’ve entered a new era of direct government involvement with new healthcare payment models amidst a revolution in Big Data analytics capabilities, ” said Jon Newpol, executive vice president and chief operating officer, government at Truven Health Analytics. “By applying the knowledge of our respected research teams, our powerful population health analytics, and our leading data management capabilities to CMS’ large data sets, we look forward to playing a significant role in helping to improve the quality and efficiency of the U.S. healthcare delivery system.”

Truven Health will be one of 15 firms under contract for the RMADA program that will provide research and analysis of payment and service delivery models in an effort to reduce costs in the Medicare, Medicaid and other federal healthcare programs, a measure that was authorized by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).
