Truven Health Analytics to Address Options for Meeting Case Management Model Requirements at AHIP’s National Conferences on Medicare & Medicaid

Session to Feature Results of Nationwide Study of MLTSS Program Models on a State-by-State Basis

Ann Arbor, MI, Oct. 01, 2014 — Truven Health Analytics will address the evolution of case management models for long-term services and supports (MLTSS) in response to the shift from fee-forservice LTSSS systems to managed care systems at AHIP’s National Conferences on Medicare & Medicaid and Dual Eligibles Summit.

Truven Health Analytics vice president and director of community living systems, Brian Burwell, will share the results of a new study on the diversity of case management models that are being used in MLTSS programs across the country. The study found that a broad range of models are being tested by states and health plans, and that no single “best practice” model has emerged, creating a range of possible deployment decisions for health plans. Burwell will outline the pros and cons of various strategies currently being deployed on a regional basis. The session, Build or Buy: The Diversity of Case Management Models for Managed Long-Term Services and Supports Programs, will take place on October 1, 2014 at 7:45 AM.

“The shift from fee-for-service LTSS systems to managed care systems has created a chain reaction of major strategy decisions that need to be made at the state and national level, ” said Burwell. “In our work with the world’s leading health plans and dozens of state Medicaid agencies throughout the country, we have continually found that the best results are achieved when all stakeholders are able to make the most informed decision possible. We look forward to sharing our insights on this important issue.”

The annual AHIP conference, which will take place September 29-October 2, 2014 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C., brings together the top minds in Medicare and Medicaid health plan management from across the country.

Truven Health Analytics Director of Integrated Care Systems, Paul Saucier, will also be presenting at the conference in a panel on Medicaid Managed Long-Term Services and Supports: Key Issues for Health Plans and States, on October 1, 2014 at 2:30 PM. The Truven Health Analytics team will be on-hand throughout the event at table #13.
