Philips Integrates Micromedex Solutions from Truven Health Analytics in Tasy System

Fast, easy access to drug interactions information to support clinical decisions

Ann Arbor, MI, Dec. 09, 2015 — Philips, a global leader in healthcare innovation, announces a partnership with Truven Health Analytics to integrate Tasy, the health management platform, with the Truven Health Micromedex® Solutions. As the gold standard reference for evidence-based, clinical information on medication, disease, tests, toxicology and alternative medicine, the Micromedex Solutions drug interactions resource provides healthcare professionals with the ability to access information directly within the Tasy system.

Interactions between medications and food or lab tests can be harmful to patients that require therapy with the use of several different medications at the same time, greatly increasing the risk of complications and adverse events. Therefore, access to clinical information during treatment evaluation benefits healthcare professionals in providing clinically relevant and consistent evidence directly within their workflow, facilitating faster decision-making and assessment of possible risks to the patient.

According to Ana Luiza Oliveira, Director of Sales and Marketing at Philips, one of Philips’ biggest concerns in healthcare is to ensure that the patient will always come first. "This is what the partnership between Truven Health Analytics and Tasy provides with the integration of Micromedex Solutions; trusted information and the tool to assess whether the patient will be affected", she says.

Currently, more than 5, 500 hospitals, regulatory bodies, and other healthcare organizations in over 90 countries worldwide rely on Micromedex Solutions for up-to-date content. In Brazil, Micromedex Solutions are trusted by over a hundred healthcare providers and institutions, including the Ministry of Education (CAPES), the Ministry of Health, the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), and the Federal Pharmacy Council.

“Our goal is to improve hospital efficiencies, save costs and improve care outcomes, ” says Per Holst-Hansen, Vice President of Global Sales at Truven Health Analytics. “Integrating Micromedex Solutions with Tasy delivers information resources when and where they are needed most, without disrupting the clinical workflow, allowing staff to make confident decisions faster, ” he comments.
