Truven Health Analytics to Demonstrate Best Practices for Meaningful Use at HIMSS 13th Annual Conference and Exhibition

Healthcare leaders present challenges, achievements, and best practices for supporting Meaningful Use; Stage 1, 2 and beyond

Ann Arbor, MI, Mar. 04, 2013 — Truven Health Analytics™, formerly the Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters, today announced that Truven Health clients Jeff Thoma, Director of Business Intelligence at Ministry Health Care, and Denni McColm, Chief Information Officer at Citizens Memorial Hospital, will speak at the Meaningful Use Experience sessions at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society’s (HIMSS) 13th Annual Conference and Exhibition.

The conference, which takes place March 3 – 7 in New Orleans, La., is HIMSS’ premier meeting for organizations and individuals dedicated to the mission of transforming healthcare through the effective use of information technology and management systems. Over 36, 000 attendees are expected at this year’s event.

During the presentation, Thoma and McColm will share how to:

  • Bridge the gap between IT and quality initiatives by integrating evidence-based clinical knowledge, patient education, and Clinical Decision Support into health information systems
  • Connect the right information with the right reporting tools to make required Clinical Quality Measure (CQM) objectives meaningful
The presentation will take place on March 5 from 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., in booth 149-4 of the HIMSS Meaningful Use Experience area, and will address challenges, best practices, and future considerations for bridging the IT gap to maximize value.

Thoma has more than 30 years of Information Technology experience, including project management, implementation, software development, maintenance, and administration of a variety of IT systems. He has worked with Ministry Health since 1989, most recently leading a team of analysts in the development of several reporting solutions used in the implementation of projects such as the Electronic Health Record, Patient-Centered Medical Home and Meaningful Use.

About Denni McColm:

McColm brings over 25 years of healthcare experience, serving as chief information officer at Citizens Memorial since 2003. She currently serves on the HIMSS Davies Awards of Excellence Organizational Selection Committee and on the Board of Directors for Medical Users Software Exchange (MUSE). McColm previously served as Commissioner of the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology from 2006 to 2008.
