Jon Busch, PhD
Director, Research Data Development, Analytic Consulting and Research Services
Dr. Busch has 17 years of health care industry experience, including 15 years of performing analytic research for the Federal government, State data organizations, and commercial clients.
- Served as principal investigator, project director, or project manager for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the National Library of Medicine, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
- Develops systems of data repositories, Web-based documentation, electronic surveys, and reporting systems that include relational, analytic (e.g., SAS), and hierarchical (e.g., XML) data structures; collects and analyzes data from States, Federal agencies, and other entities
- Currently is the project manager for the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP)—under his leadership, the project cut processing time in half, increased the research capacity of the research team through hiring and subcontracting, promoted the use of HCUP by the research community, and developed My Own Network, powered by AHRQ (MONAHRQ)
- Designed, produced, and disseminated over 20 technical reports and other documents
Dr. Busch has a PhD and MA in communication from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a BA in communication arts from Loyola Marymount University.
